It's funny, a lot has been said about the supposed racism of golden age hollywood movies but I have to say that the Scorcese/Spielberg last 50 years are even more racist. Films like King Kong, SHE, Island Of Lost Souls, The Most Dangerous Game actually showed the 'savages' with a degree of reverence and awe, unlike this crap film that uses them as stupid jokes. This film has aged SO BADLY, and nearly all from that period have done so too. For instance now John Hughes films are being lambasted for their explicit rapey fantasies. And that's how it'll go, that period will not stand up to scrutiny.
I see you're no longer an active member. I wonder which pathetic woke sock account is you now? I couldn't help but notice you didn't actually point out anything racist about this film, you just leaned on the heavily overused lefty mentality of "Dis raCist".
So because Indiana Jones, a white man from America, goes to India and ends up fighting what are basically professional thieves and murderers who just HAPPEN to be Indian, it's RACIST??

How do stupid people even LIVE?
That's a good question, seeing as you completely failed to understand what the OP is talking about. It's not that the Thuggee are portrayed as Indian, it's how Indian culture and religion is portrayed.

Oh, I see. Well, maybe the Indian culture is not fully understood, but all I know is that the portrayal of the Indians in this movie at their feast of bugs, snakes and chilled monkey brains was not actually usual, but designed to dissuade visiting foreigners like Indy, Willie and Short Round into prying into their affairs.
Except that a long term resident like Col. Bloombertt, and an archaeologist with extensive anthropological knowledge like Indy, don't seem to find anything wrong with the dinner. Mind you, in the original script, these two do share concerns at how this is not what Hindus are like at all, but this never made it into the movie. Consequently, the scene exists only for the ick-value, and because it is never gainsaid, it is racist. Not very racist - it's a far cry from "The Eternal Jew" or similar propaganda movies - but it does echo stereotypes of the past, of the type "non-white natives = savages".
Like I said, it's not huguely problematic - I have an Indian friend who loves the movie for all its ridiculousness. But it is understandable if Indians might find it offensive.
Other cultures on the planet tend to be and can be completely different from the cultures we know of in our local region of the world, so they could come across as unusual, repulsive or even downright abhorrent. It's actually part of the charm of a worldwide community that evolved over centuries with regions of the world not know what others did or what their way of life was. I think that's why tourists travel the world, to see these new (to them), interesting and "exotic" cultures first-hand.
No period stands up to scrutiny. In 30-40 years, little wet-behind-the-ears twerps like yourself will shit all over your favorite old movies of the 2020s and try to make you feel like a bad person for liking and enjoying them. It's the only way they can feel good about themselves.
