Good movie with terrible action sequences

This whole series is marked by horrible action sequences. The shootout scenes are comically bad, and really bring the movies down. They're also completely unnecessary, or completely excessive, IMO. I'm supposed to believe that 3 guys with handguns and a couple shotguns are going to take down 30+ with machine guns? And reloading is only necessary for dramatic effect. Bad guys can't hit a barn if they're standing inside it; good guys can pick off a shooter at 50 yards with a handgun.

Whose influence was it that shoehorned these awful scenes into otherwise decent movies?

reply

Yeah, the automatic weapons spray just kicking up grass near the good guys feet or wall beside them. The shotgun blasts in the house just missing every time. Lame 80s TV standard.

I laughed at the part when victor fell to the side causing him to fall down the stairs when axel and the lieutenant shot him from the front

This is in referance to yor list of people who died tragicly. I think that Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Born January 9 1948 Died October 20 1977 Age 29. He and another member of the band, Steve Gaines B. October 14 1949 D. October 20 1977 Age 28. Died tragicly in a plane crash. They should be added to the list as well.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR LISTS. Had capss lock on again Oooops.

You may have laughed, but when I saw this in the cinemas back in the day, the audience actually cheered and applauded when Victor got blown away. When was the last time you saw that, people applauding in a movie? :)

reply

That's the same with almost every popular action movie, especially in the 80's...

So a Millennial criticizing a classic movie? Anybody surprised?

reply

I wouldn't consider this an action movie.

Complaining about the action in this one, would be like complaining about the love story in Rambo.

You're such a doosh. People like you are the reason my sig is what it is.

Millennial = Homo Sapiens born 1990 or after; Losers who think they know everything but don't

fletch was filmed probably around the same time as this movie. I doubt you can say it copied it. the music may have been borrowed as fletch would have been still been edited when beverly hills cop was released though.. that is possible at least.

reply

When did I say anything about Fletch?

I think that double tandem truck trailer sequence in the beginning of the film was pretty good, and realistic.
