Salieri explained to the priest how he had dedicated himself to God:

"Whilst my father prayed earnestly to God to protect commerce, I would offer up secretly the proudest prayer a boy could think of. Lord, make me a great composer! Let me celebrate your glory through music - and be celebrated myself! Make me famous through the world, dear God! Make me immortal! After I die let people speak my name forever with love for what I wrote! In return I vow I will give you my chastity - my industry, my deepest humility, every hour of my life. And I will help my fellow man all I can. Amen and amen!"

It's why he didn't succumb to his desires for Katarina, either. Jeez - anybody who's seen the movie should know this.

In the play he confesses that he soon broke that vow:

"The next day, when Katherina Cavalieri came for her lesson, I made the same halting speech about 'coins of tenderness' and I dubbed the girl La Generosa. I regret that my invention in love, as in art, has always been limited. Fortunately, Katherina found it sufficient. She consumed twenty 'Nipples of Venus'--kissed me with brandied breath--and slipped easily into my bed... She remained there as my mistress for many years behind my good wife's back--and I soon erased in sweat the sense of his little body, the Creature's, preceding me."

He sent her away to humiliate her. In his mind, it was something of a victory for him over Mozart, that he could entice his wife do something like that and then have her sent away like a common whore.

Salieri had continually griped about God reniging on his agreement.
If Salieri didn't send the girl away, then Salieri would be reniging on HIS agreement to offer God his chastity.

If the girl had stayed, Salieri would no longer be able to ask why God was torturing him.

If I hated Mozart that much, I'd have had her and then refused help. She was too gorgeous to resist.

Only those with no valid argument pick holes in people's spelling and grammar.

i kind of agree with the people who say he wanted her to be humiliated and rejected. But then again, he doesnt really have a problem with the girl, his real antagonism is with Mozart. And if he did do her, I think that would have hurt him more when he someway found out. (which can again be arranged by Salieri himself)

In my opinion Salieri wanted her to take revenge on Mozart(for stealing his beloved-he had him),but when he saw that Constanze didn't value Mozart's work(she threw his work down n stripped),he thought that it wasn't worth it(as Salieri stared at the pages that she dropped down n then called his servant)!!!!!!!
