I'm gonna go with Firefly

After much thought... I must say Dusty. I always liked his ways. He was a funny guy, but knew his duty and did it unstintingly. Whereas Shipwreck could whinge like nobody's business, Dusty just got stuff done.

Shipwreck and Leatherneck

Shipwreck was such a character. Telling jokes, arguing with his parrot, and hitting on the ladies. I liked his adventures with Snake Eyes in Pyramid of Darkness series.

Leatherneck was a no-nonsense fighter. Loved the episode where he had to stop a former Marine recruit who had joined Cobra from blowing up Parris Island.

Dusty has always been my favorite, with Flint a close second.

When the action figures came out, I was a fan of 'Flash' but other than a quick shot in the opening credits I don't recall him being in the cartoon at all. Or the comic for that matter [but I could be wrong about that].

After the first mini-series [A real American hero] I became a fan of 'Snow Job'. I liked his character and his action figure [and the 'Polar battle bear']. He wasn't featured very often, but it's understandable since he's super-specialized.

Here's at least one episode featuring Flash.

Operation Mind Menace

Airborne and Flash's helicopter is shot down on an island and are captured. Meanwhile, Airborne's brother, Tommy, is being tested for ESP. Storm Shadow and an old guy with fire coming out of his head kidnap Tommy. Cobra forms an army of civilians with psionic powers. Flash and Airborne manage to escape the island after fighting giant statues. The Joes attack Cobra's base, which is guarded by the psi-army. In the end, Tommy is able to help the Joes and stop Cobra.

In 1982, the original Snake-Eyes was my favorite and then in 1983 Snow Job easily became my favorite and still is to this day. I remember when "A View to a Kill" came out in 1985 and James Bond's Arctic outfit looked exactly liked Snow Job's, I thought it was so cool. I loved the skis he came with and only wished he had a snowboard like Bond!

reply

Yeah, Snow Job really stood out amongst his olive green peers from those first couple of waves. Then the cartoon--as it typically did--did a great job of giving him a fun personality.

reply

I like Dusty too. He always seemed like the most humble...Damn near everyone else always had the attitude like "I'm the best this....", but Dusty was chill all of the time. Low-Light has the best voice though

Someone already pointed out "Operation: Mind Menace", which includes my favorite Joe, Airborne.

Also, the early Joe comics, up until about the point that they introduced the third wave of characters (Duke, Roadblock, etc.) focused on all the early Joes, so Flash was present for pretty much every issue up until the late teens.

The guy who voiced Low-Light is the same person who did Optimus Prime in all of the transformers series, movies, and even the voice of Optimus in the new live action movies =0

Snake Eyes and Storm shadow. I loved how they were bitter enemies but always had a bit of respect for one another neither crossing the proverbial "line"

Lol, I know exactly what you mean dude. In fact, didn't they once help each other out when caught in some type of underground tunnel/cave where the air supply was running out? Spirit may have been involved in this scenario as well...

Actually Low Light was played by Charlie Adler. He played Starscream in the 2007 Transformers movie. But to my knowledge, he never played Optimus Prime. He certainly didn't play him in the original cartoon. Peter Cullen did. Adler played Aerialbot Leader Silverbolt in the original cartoon.

reply

Actually, Peter Cullen was the voice of Prime for the original animated series and the two live-action movies. Charlie Adler (Low-Light) voiced several Transformers characters, and also recently voiced Cobra Commander on Resolute.

reply

I liked Roadblock. He was actually much better in the comic book than in the cartoon though.

Snake-Eyes was pretty blank in the cartoon and not really that major of a character.

I thought Short Fuze was a pretty funny guy in the cartoon, as was Breaker.

reply

Wow,that was a long time ago.Zandar was my favourite as far as I can remember.

I can't wait for Michael Bay to direct Care Bears. Using real bears so it can be more realistic.

This is tough, I liked HALO a lot. Also liked FireFly and Scrap Iron on the Cobra side.

Another guy mentioned Snow Job, and I have to agree his action figure was pretty cool (didn't it come with skis?). I also liked Recon, but I don't recall him ever being featured in the cartoon?

And who was the marine with the open shirt and tattoo on his chest? I seem to recall him being pretty badass.

Shipwreck and QuickKick were funny on the cartoon, but Shipwreck was funnier IIRC.
