Thank you all from Harry Bromley-Davenport. (Director - Xtro)
Hi, Everyone,
I wanted to write this message to thank you all for taking the time and trouble to post messages here over the past year ... and years.
You probably can't imagine how great it is to get feedback from a real audience - not film critics - and to interact in this way on this board. I truly enjoy talking with all of you. Forgive me if I am sometimes tardy in responding.
If you've followed my comments and answers you will be aware that I was 32 years old when we made this film in 1982 and that I was an idiot ... and remain one to this day. It was my second feature film and it's a bit of a mess, but it may be that messiness which has kept it alive on the video store shelves and on cable for all these years.
If there is any virtue to the film, it is that it doesn't make much sense. It's kind of all over the place. And, looking back, I can't imagine what we were thinking, other than to try to shock people. It truly surprises me that you all have actually seen the film and care enough to make comments so long after the film's release.
So, I wish everyone an Xtraordinay New Year.
Please go out and make better films yourselves. Believe me, the job of the Director is the easiest one on the set, so set your sights on that position. They bring you coffee and bacon sandwiches if you are the Director, and that's the best part of the job.
With great affection to you, one and all,
Harry.
