Why this movie did NOT suck

Okay, the shark looks fake, especially the animatronics. The diver-in-the-mouth shot was unconvncing and not scary. The blue-background images were cheap and the script sounded like it was written by 8th graders! And really, I'm no marine biologist, but why would a large apex marine predator break into a park to feed on scrawny humans who occasionally might get into the water, when there are schools of large fish out in the open ocean?

Okay, but with that, the film is still worth watching. Why? The shorts! There are hundreds of girls of all ages in shorts that are VERY SHORT! Even a line at the beginning said "NO altering your uniforms, girls. Your shorts are short enough!" Personnally, I think shorts can never be too short! My gawd, what a nice collection of sexy bare legs! And those shorts are also tight on them! A true display of nature's beauty in over half the shots. Lea Thomson looks great in her tiny little shorts when she gets in those bumber boats! So yes, I'd recomend this film to hetero men and gay women! Nice view!

So there!

I can't argue with logic like that. Especially when you give props to Lea Thompson.

Another reason is this line right here..

"You tell Shelby Overman for me he can take a flying leap at a rolling donut on a gravel driveway, you hear?"

That is scathing beyond scathing.

And don't forget Bess Armstrong in that blue wetsuit!

When I first started out watching this series as a kid, this was my favorite. Later, I started realizing it wasn't all that good, but I still have a soft spot for it. I guess it's the concept and nostalgia.

<<Bess Armstrong was very sexy in that blue wetsuit she was a fine piece of vanilla ass whatever happened to Bess?>>

She's still acting, doing TV and movies here and there.

Back in the mid 90's she was on the highly acclaimed but short lived My So Called Life.

I think she just never appeared in really "good" movies, ya know? She never managed to get cast in a really BIG movie that took over the box office for a summer or whatever. Jaws 3-D was probably the biggest picture she was in, unless you count High Road To China with Tom Selleck.

I feel the same way,

The best line in the movie, I try to use it in my everyday life whenever I can!

Well I just could never get into Jaws III because it just seemed like one long sea world commercial, the only other one in a half hour product placement I can think of would be The Wizard and just like the power glove Jaws III is bad.

The fact that you never seen the shark for almost all the movie is a real strike against this one. Sure the first one you don't see the shark for most of the movie but when you didn't see it you felt as if the shark was there. In three I just never got the feeling of there being some dreaded horror just under the surface of the water. And when we do get glimpses of the shark it's a plastic fin, an animatronic miniature or a really fake head it never looked even somewhat realistic.

Then there is the  huge park panic scene, the shark chases skiers, they fall and what does the shark do? Passes em up. The shark goes into the bumper boat area, two people fall into the water, what does the shark do? Nibbles on the girls leg and then goes off to head-but a floating platform. All the people on the platform go into the water, it's all you can eat buffet time for the shark, what does shark do? It ignores them so it can go off to head-but a series of underwater tunnels...

What is it with head-butting sharks in this movie? Momma shark goes into the park only to head-but the now closed gate. Momma shark has baby shark which head-buts a fake sunken pirate ship and then head-buts the gate to the dolphin area. Momma goes on a streak head-butting floating platform, underwater tunnels and finally an underwater control center. With all the shark head-butting going on one has to wonder if they are mentally handicapped or something... I mean I guess it's not that far fetched, retarded sharks.

Though no matter how much I dislike the movie the sharks death at least seemed more believable than the "spearing a shark with a boat and it will explode" death in Jaws The Revenge.

JAWS 3 sucks. The shorts don't.

Len Petersen - "It could be dirt. Something in the lens"
Chief Brody - "Lens my ass!"

The shark probably just entered in thru the gate out of curiosity and was subsequently trapped. Jaws was camping.

Anyway, I'm on a horse.

Out of all the Jaws movies, this one seems the most dated...I think it would have been better if they had not gone with the 3D idea, because then the effects would have been a bit better...
I want them to do a restoration of all the films, but especially this one. Anyway, it's not that great a movie, but i enjoy watching it from time to time...And honestly, if Lea Thompson wasn't in the movie, i probably wouldn't watch it as often as i do

It did have 1 really good scene, where the shark is chasing FitzRoyce into the vent. That scene wasn`t poorly made either.

This film is quite utterly *beep* Its an embarrassment to be in the same series as Spielberg's quality, landmark original film. *beep* *beep* *beep*

I agree, lol. Joking aside I really do enjoy this movie as it doesn't take itself seriously, which sadly can't be said about Jaws The Revenge! It's a bit like a 50s B-Movie (like 'The Blob'). It knows what it is and it's a popcorn flick. The 3-D effects that I've seen are very good though. I wish I had been able to see it when it was first released.

I'm not too familiar with this particular sequel. I basically grew up with the first two. I've owned this one for years now, but it's not often I sit down and watch it. Much like other movies. But I've been giving it second thoughts, and watching it, and the film is not that bad. Maybe I like it because it feels different. Not sure if that's the right way to put it. A good kind of different.

Other films such as SUPERMAN III, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE, and Bond movies like DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER and LICENSE TO KILL I've really grown to appreciate in subsequent viewings. Films I've either brushed off as bad, or ones I could barely remember, usually turn out to be a lot of fun.

AGREED!!! This movie is EASILY the best of the series. It has it all, cast, script, flow, atmosphere etc. Taking the shark out of Amity and having a fisherman and police chief try and kill him was a GREAT idea. I love this movie man, one of my favs. PREACH
