Not so good
I’ve been going through some of the mad max inspired post apocalyptic films of the 80’s, as I do enjoy this genre, and so I decided to check this one out. I’m generally pretty easy to please, and find at least some redemption in anything by the end, but not this one. The Italians decided to cash in on the mad max craze of the 80’s and produced this, and many other similar films, most of them rather poorly done. The script appears to have been about 20 pages long, with some of the cheesiest dialog you’ve ever heard, particularly from the bad guy: “Onward mother humpers” Seriously? :D Oh, and there’s also a kid with a bionic arm, that can sink a rock into a bad guy’s brain, much in the same fashion that the feral kid in The Road Warrior put a boomerang through Wez’s twink buddy’s skull :D (ripoff)
There’s a huge plot hole in the film and that’s
what do the cave dwelling residents plan on doing after that tanker full of water runs dry? Heading back out into the dangerous desert, and battling the bad guy’s all over again?
Not a long term solution to be sure. Of course the water problem resolves itself in the end, much the way that it did in World Gone Wild (1987) (Not a great film either, but much better than this one)
Fans of Melanie Griffith might enjoy the lead actress in this film, as she bears a striking resemblance to Ms Griffith in her younger years.
You can watch it for free, and so I’d say go for it if it sounds even mildly interesting to you. But I wouldn’t pay to watch it for the price of a movie ticket, even with non-inflated 1983 dollars (That’s about $4 :D )
