I just got done watching the original Amityville Horror (which I loved), so I thought maybe Amityville 3-D would be good also. I was sorely mistaken. It was a piece of trash in my opinion, and I can't believe Meg and Lori actually took part in it. There was basically no plot whatsoever, and the fakeness level was off the charts, even for those days. I wish I would have stuck with the first one and called it good.

Having said all that, the scene where the mother sees her daughter all wet and refusing to talk to her while she is actually outside dying is uber creepy. I think that scene is actually kinda brilliant, and I'm glad I got to see it. Kudos to whoever came up with it; it's a scene I will remember for years to come. As for the rest of the movie.... oy vey.

Just watched it tonight, and I had the same reaction. Creepy scene...too bad the rest didn't measure up. As for Meg Ryan and Lori Laughlin, I think this was their first film.

Yeah that scene has stuck with me over the years too even though I don't like the movie.

Yes that bit was quite disturbing, but the way the girl walked into the house, you knew something was not quite right with her. She looked quite disturbing and not herself.

But that scene did stick out, and the film as a whole was rather watchable.

there's probably a reason why the tagline read "WARNING: in this movie you are the victim." because yeah, I'm a victim for having watched this crap.

You know i've been stuck with that scene for over a decade now since i watched it the first time in my kid years. I never watched it again and forgot to look it up over the years and from what movie it was from.

But recently i was with the burning ache to find out what movie it was because this scene really struck on me and thanks to best-horror movies i found it. It's a shame the movie actually sucks (from comments as I'm seeing). But i'll watch it anyways only if for that scene alone.

I kind of remember another good scene where they play with the board and it says the girl was gonna die, that also struck on me. But then again i was a child (a hardened-by-trash-movies-child but still a child)

That scene was excellent. I hope this doesn't spoil the effect for you, but what makes the scene so chilling is that the filmmakers did something very simple, but brilliant. There are no sound effects as Lori laughlin's ghost enters the house and she walks upstairs. No footsteps, no dripping water. Only the sounds that would be there if she was not present. This is what makes the scene feel so off kilter and makes the scene so memorable.

don't know what you were listening to, but there are footsteps from susan, though they're very quiet. hell, you can hear the floor creak when she's on the second level of the house before she enters the room. even when she enters the house, you can CLEARLY hear the door open

This movie was the worst of the 3, but it still had its moments. Let's face it, the other 2 films certainly had their bizarre off-the-charts moments too.
But this film loses it when it shows 'too much' effect when it comes to the demon.

The first film was scary because it DIDN'T show much of anything in terms of the evil! That "GET OUT!" scene still chills me to this day.
