Tom Cruise and Lea Thompson.. Did they ever date?

I just watched All the Right Moves for the first time tonight and I thought that Tom Cruise and Lea Thompson's characters were absolutely adorable together! It looked like they had a lot of chemistry. Just curious, did the two of them ever date off screen?

I know he began dating Rebecca DeMournay (sp?) when they filmed Risky Business and I believe he filmed All The Right Moves just after RB so he may have still been dating her at that time. I don't think he ever dated Lea.
