In no particular order: my top 7 Argento

1. Tenebre
2. The Bird With The Crystal Plummage
3. Suspiria
4. Inferno
5. Phenomena
6. Deep Red
7. Four Flies on Grey Velvet

This list was actually kind of difficult for me to narrow down.

I really am quite fond of Opera, Stendhal Syndrome, Sleepless, Cat O Nine' Tails, the segment he directed of "Two Evil Eyes" and yes, I even liked "Mother of Tears". I went into it expecting something truly awful (like Texas Chainsaw 3D or Devil Inside) and was pleasantly surprised.

Jenifer and Pelts are decent, I prefer Pelts though. The Jenifer story just doesn't do it for me though technically I can see why people often prefer that one.

Films like Trauma, Phantom, Giallo, and Card Player I've only seen once. They had their moments though and I own all of them and look forward to checking them out again down the line. Except maybe for Giallo, honestly that one has the least redeeming moments of any of his films IMO.

I still haven't seen "Dracula"! I'm tempted to import it for like 25 bucks but I'm still trying to hold out for an American release (since I don't really wanna spend that much on a film that's been so generally lambasted). But I like to decide for myself, so if it never gets released in America (like the underrated and great "La Setta") then I will cave and import.

1. Inferno
2. Profondo Rosso aka Deep Red
3. Suspiria
4. Tenebre
5. Bird with the Crystal Plumage
6. Cat O' Nine Tails
7. Phenomena

Stendhal Syndrome is ok but not one of my favorites, I don't think it holds a candle to Argento's classic movies. Opera is fun but flawed just like Sleepless and Mother of Tears was disappointing but watchable. I still haven't seen Four Flies surprisingly.

1. THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE
2. CAT O' NINE TAILS
3. SUSPIRIA
4. TENEBRAE
5. DEEP RED
6. INFERNO
7. PHENOMENA / CREEPERS

I have listed my favourites in an order which reflects my overall objective view regarding the quality of film-making on show. Many years ago as a young Argento fan the list would be arranged in a more subjective order.

DRACULA 3D is watchable, it has some nice 3D, cinematography, locations and some decent acting...far from Argento's best but still ok with a charming "old school" vibe, i think!

1. Suspiria (1977)
2. Tenebrae (1982)

4. Inferno (1980)
5. Phenomena (1985)
6. The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970)
7. Deep Red (1975)

I think he peaked with the Suspiria - Opera five film sequence from 1977 - 1987. That's tier one. Deep Red & the 'animal trilogy' are up next as a tier two. Followed by The Stendhal Syndrome, Trauma & Sleepless in tier three.

Those first nine horror efforts from The Bird with the Crystal Plumage through Opera is the peak of any horror director. The pinnacle in horror cinematic history.

My list would match yours, except that for me, phenomena (1985) would be moved to the number 3 spot.
