The show got so much better after Diane left

Agreed. But it was a two way deal.

The first, is that Diane leaving meant that the show got rid of an annoying character that had no chemistry with the rest of the cast.

The second, is that she was replaced with Kirstie Alley - a very talented actress who was funny, charming & pretty, and who got along with the rest of the cast.

Had they replaced Diane with a mediocre actor, it wouldn't have meant a thing.

The addition of Woody Harrelson was also a game changer as well. I refuse to watch any of the pre-Kirstie Alley episodes. I tried to, but they're terrible. The show basically started for me when they had both Woody and Kirstie in the cast.

I just think the writing got better and better, didn't matter if Diane was around or not because the other characters were always hilarious. But, I will say Rebecca did have some great moments that I don't think Diane could have pulled off. SO yes, Rebecca(occasionally) > Diane.

I've always felt the exact opposite. After Diane left it seemed like every character became a one-dimensional cartoon. Sam, in particular went from having a reasonable amount of depth as an ex-athlete, trying to deal with life out of the limelight while grappling with alcoholism, to being an air-headed horn dog with no purpose in life other than getting laid.

Controversial opinion. I don't like either Diane or Rebecca. Diane was a narcissist and Rebecca was a sociopath. And Shelley Long and Kirstie Alley both had annoying nasally voices.

Funny you mentioned that. I always rather didnt care for her alot. BUT, they replaced her with a much much worse and annoying character in christie alley. Gosh i was hoping for Diane to come back at that point
