Why do they need them in the movie?? They belong to documentary about the movie or commentary track. They're faces are annoying. And it looks like all they say is scripted. Maybe not.
I haven't seen anything quite like it. Horrible.
The interjection of people who lived in those times - real people - people who gave the dramatization a grounded context - was an absolutely creatively daring and brilliant choice.
When the film came out - many of the viewing public recognized the public figures who shared their views and this added weight to the story.
I suppose most viewers today - don't know who those personalities are/were and I suppose that may take away from the power a little.
Will Durant wrote the best history of civilization ever. And Henry Miller was a great writer who set the world on fire with the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn in the 1930s. Just to see those two on the screen was worth the price of admission to this movie.

Nevertheless my opinion stays the same. You don't need to insert those interviews in the narrative. Imagine Titanic being retrofitted with the accounts of all it's survivors detailing how it happened. That's wouldn't go very well.

When I watch a movie (or TV) I only want to see young, beautiful people, especially babes with really hot bodies. That's what movies are for anyway. Who wants to look at wrinkled skin? That's disgusting.
Even better is if two hot babes are kissing and touching each other! Woo-hoo! An occasional man on woman rape is cool too, not because I like rape, but hey, it's a reality! Also there should be loud, really loud rap music, or heavy metal.
There should also be car chases, and lots and lots of explosions, with close-ups of murders, and bloody gore. Now THAT'S entertainment for my generation!
