Sack head Jason is honestly the most realistic version of Jason there was, just some wild deformed hillbilly man living off the land out in the woods. He felt pain in this, he showed fear when the chainsaw was coming for him, he wasn't unkillable, he went down hard when he got kicked in the balls, and imo he legit died when he got the machete through the shoulder, until part 3 that is. That crashing through the window at the end was obviously a dream sequence.

I'll always love part 3 and 4 Jason more in terms of look and scariness but when it comes to Jason being the most realistic as some crazy wild man living out in the woods this one is the most realistic representation.

I agree. Later films made him more supernatural but he was more humanlike in this.

exactly and bc of him being a human he has more personality than as a zombie. so jasons in parts 2-4 are the best jasons.

Dude, he came back from the dead , survived machetes, axes all before he looked like a "zombie" - he was always super natural.

I mean, yeah, he survived things that should've killed him but the film makers insist he was human in parts 2-4.

I know he looked like a zombie from part 4 on, but he was always something else.

It's been a while since I saw 2, what's the justification for his return? I am re-reading wiki and it is not super clear, but this page says he witnessed hos mother's death: https://fridaythe13th.fandom.com/wiki/Jason_Voorhees. Do they really try to say he was alive in the woods this whole time and somehow did not reconnect with his mother?

I'm willing to agree. Though I personally think the Mrs. Vorhees mental voice of Jason is the most realistic. She was so mournful, scorned, vengeful, psychotic, and lonely that she created a killer version of Jason in her head to justify her murderous behavior.

That being said, My favorite Jason was in Part 6.

True. But i didnt find him quite menacing enough. I wish they would have put Jason from number 3 into this one. I always felt i could take Jason out myself in this one.

To me that always made sense though, this is Jason's first outing, he's learning and finding out what works and what doesn't, then in part 3 after he's gotten that experience he's more efficient and menacing. I always looked at it like Jason was leveling up, in part 2 he was level 1, then in part 3 he got to level 10, then in part 4 he got to level 20, each movie he got more and more menacing and angry and each one he got better and better.

So it just always made sense to me he was kinda weak in this one and stumbling around.

The Jason in Part 2 is the scariest in terms of look/concept, but I think Richard Brooker gives the creepiest performance of the series.

I always HATE the intro cause how did this dude chase down whats-her-face from Part 1..... what he took a uber? c'mon
BUT the camp and rest of the film are awesome.

Yeah it makes no sense Jason was able to find Alice, what did he go look her up in the yellow pages or ask around town with that sack on his head? how would he even begin to find out where she was? she was taken away in an ambulance and took to the hospital, did Jason follow the ambulance on foot and then follow and stalk her when she left the hospital? But then its been what 2 months since the events of the first movie? why'd Jason wait so long to kill her?

After the death of his mother in the first film, the demonic entity (revealed in Part IX) left her body and entered Jason, who was filled with hatred about her death. The two had a symbiotic relationship and the diabolic entity assisted him in locating Alice. Obviously he traveled by night and stayed in the shadows.

I don't count Jason Goes to Hell. Him suddenly being demon possessed was stupid and made it not feel connected at all to the other movies. The only good scenes in it are the first 3 minutes or so with real Jason and the end scene with Freddy. Everything else sucks.

I respect your choice to regard it as non-canon, but the revelations of Part IX do help make sense of the films. For instance, the demonic-entity inside Jason's carcass would explain how Jason was able to function as a walking corpse, animated by a jolt of lightning or electricity. Such a thing could only be explained by a supernatural element.

I frankly don't agree. Also if Jason is part demon then what happened at the beginning of Jason Goes to Hell should have happened at the end of Part 4. The demon would not allow itself to be buried.

The evil-thing must've developed an attachment to Jason's body -- its "home" so-to-speak -- and consequently was buried with the corpse.

Consider that the Underworld (aka "hell") is established as a reality in the series -- as implied in Parts IX and XI (wherein Freddy Krueger was in the nether realm) -- and therefore Satan is presumably also a reality. In the bible Satan is shown to have power over weather phenomena, e.g. Job 1:16,19. My point is that the demonic-entity and Satan would've been in league to carry out their directive to "kill, steal and destroy" and thus the devil could've orchestrated Jason's resurrection via lightning in Part VI. Hence, the demon-thing knew being buried with Jason's corpse wasn't the end.

I realize the various creators -- the writers/directors -- made everything up as the series progressed (they kept making sequels because they kept making money). I'm just theorizing based on the evidence of the franchise as a whole, trying to make it make coherent sense.

Yeah. Sorry. I just do not like Jason Goes to Hell. And don't like the idea of Jason being possessed by a demon. It just makes him a lacky of a demon.

I can understand why you wouldn't want to consider it canonical. It's your prerogative.

Consider this though: People who give their hearts over to bitterness, hatred and murder, like Mrs. Voorhees & Jason early in this franchise, are already lackeys of the devil because they willingly followed the corrupt desires of their "flesh" (bitterness, hatred, murder), which is the sinful nature or satanic nature. And this is what attracts filthy spirits (demons) like flies to excrement or rats to garbage.

Bear in mind that a person doesn't get possessed by a demonic entity (or entities) by innocently walking along one day and an evil spirit suddenly jumps on him/her. Demons are impure spirits and so are naturally attracted to that which is morally filthy. If a person yields to fleshly thoughts and starts to dwell on them to the point of obsession and the corresponding evil behavior (e.g. hatred/murder) it’ll attract demonic spirits, which leads to oppression and possibly, ultimately, possession.

I know this is heavy, but the series did introduce this infernal supernatural element with Part IX and Part XI, the latter of which depicts Freddy Krueger in the Underworld.

The opening may not been part of the dream. It was the son Jason, now fully grown into an adult, looking for Alice. Instead of moving away she still lived at the town of Crystal Lake. You have to use your imagination to figure out how he knew she was the one as it isn't explained. The first movie had Crazy Ralph explain that the counselors were cursed and were going to die. Jason Voorhees had a sixth sense about who to kill. Both Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th Part II would be a good double feature at the drive-in. Are there director's cuts or not edited versions of the two movies?

I love sack-Jason !!
but part 3 Jason was just brutal..

i feel like part 2 had a more human killer (if that even makes sense)

Its all a plot hole anyway because his mom claimed he drowned as a boy years ago
