This movie actually scared me.

This is kind of a repost, but I just wanted to say that this movie actually genuinely scared me. I couldn't sleep at night after watching this. The only other movie that has actually scared me is the exorcist and that was when I was like 15 years old (i'm much older now).

If you watch this movie by yourself in the dark I think you will be scared too.

I think all the people that say this movie is absolutely not scary must have been watching this during the day or with a whole bunch of other people that can laugh at the movie.

Still stands out in my mind as one of the hell scariest movies I've ever seen in my life. Watched it with a group of teenage girlfriends (slumber party) way back in the day, and by the bejesus, did we SCREAM!

All of us too terrified to go to the toilet alone that evening...

Glad I'm not alone. Im 28 years old and have watched MANY horror movies, mainstream and underground and the only one to creep me out to this day is The Entity. The music, the lighting, the cinematography and of course the horrifying story just make this a true terror. It's like a schizophrenic's worst nightmare or something. The Entity could be anywhere at any time...what the hell is it? Why the hell is it doing this to this poor woman??? The mystery only adds to the horror. I read the novel and while it was pretty cool and certainly creepy in parts...it actually kinda pales compared to the film...however I will say it more thoroughly explores some theories on "who or what" the Entity is and I gotta say...one of those particular theories is so goddamned cold blooded it's unbelieveable so I definitely recommend the novel as well, just don't expect to be mortified like the movie.

I think i was about 15/16 when i saw it too with a couple of friends & along with The Exorcist was genuinely scared. I just got a copy today, i haven't seen it since then so i am deliberately going to watch this alone one night this week as it's been years since ive really been frightened by the suspense in any "Horror" movie. Wish me luck.

LOL you guys are too funny. Scary???? I don't mean to be disrespectful or anything but I had absolutely no problem rubbing one to this movie. This movie seemed way too much like a drawn out softcore porno. I'm usually easily scared too so just the fact that this turned me on probably says a volume about how NOT scary this was. Stop kidding yourselves guys, seems like you were traumatized during an age where you truly shouldn't be watching movies about rape.

If you are getting sexually aroused by rape scenes, I would suggest that you seek help immediately.

Finally found the movie. I've been searching for ages trying to remember what it was called. You are not alone, this movie turned me on a lot can't wait to watch it again.

This is in my top 10 of the scariest movies I have ever seen. Barbera Hershey and Ron Silver are both great in this.

Me too, this film scared the crap out of me.
I don't watch this any more cos I live alone and the film freaks me out

I want to say I watched The Entity on HBO in the early to mid 80s, back when the channel aired all kinds of obscure gems, like Vice Squad and Angel. However, while I can recall the general plot – though that may be attributed more to my reading about it – I don’t remember anything specific about it. It seems to be a film that’s more or less vanished from the general consciousness.

OMG was 15 when this first came out in 1982 and it scared the bajeezus out of me.

I never got scared in movies even as a kid but this movie freaked the hell out of me.. That soundtrack.

I have been meaning to watch this again but have never managed to find a decent copy of the film.
