The window that Ned broke... was it ever fixed???

Remember that scene where Ned breaks the window and Matty gets turned on by it...

Did that thing ever get fixed? You'd think Edmund would come home and wonder, "Honey, what happened to our window?"

"What I don't understand is how we're going to stay alive this winter."

reply

No, it was never fixed. Matty told her husband that she was tossing a football around with a neighbor, who tossed a long one that shattered it. Hubby didn't mind because it was hot outside, and they had recently squirted highly lethal bug spray into every nook of the house.

I thought that scene was stupid. Totally unrealistic and unnecessary. But I guess this was a 'noir' movie so a bit of surrealism is to be expected.

I'm probably not supposed to reveal this but according to Kasdan in the original script
Ned cuts his toe on the broken window and runs home crying. There is no subsequent
murder, cover up or drama for that matter.
