Why isn't anyone doing a remake of this movie?

Don't get me wrong, I love the original. I love this movie, it's one of my faves. but it was made in 1980 omg! It deserves a bigger budget treatment and it would be such a success commercially. I don't know why it's not already being done. They just need to find the right actors with the right chemistry and that's it. The story's pretty simple and hard to ruin. I would love to see a retelling of this story set partly in the modern present and whatever past they choose. It would be heartbreakingly beautiful, just like the original ❤

They will remake it about two Mongolian lesbians one of which is trans and there will be virtue signalling throughout.

I don't think you can. Everything had to be just right for this movie to work. First of all a breathtaking Jane Seymour. Who's going to replace her? Secondly the story wouldn't be fresh anymore - everyone would know what was going to happen. Third, the score - it was just right for that movie - it can't be replaced. No, I don't think you could do "SIT" again.
