The boxing scenes are very unrealistic

A fighter doesn't just stand there and get pounded with punch after punch. As soon as the referee sees the fighter is defenseless he jumps in and stops the fight (even back in those days)

I thought Rocky boxing scenes are bad, but this is just as bad lol

Judging by the number of lols and writing style, OP is 15 years old and slightly less intelligent than the average person.

Uhhh.... the realism of the boxing is far from important here

Why though? Why do the fight scenes have to be punch for punch, blow by blow, "realistic"? The fights are authentic to the emotion and the drama of the story. Reproducing the fights mechanically would have had no impact.

Ć’uck, if you want realism then go watch an actual fight, of course the boxing scenes are overexerted but name me one movie that focuses around a central sport that isn't. Besides, Raging Bull has a lot more going for it then just that, and even so, the boxing choreography is amazing.

You want realism? Watch a documentary. The fight scenes are supposed to be stylistic, not realistic, the realism in this film comes in the form of lamotta relationships with his friends and family.

Scorcese was going for drama here, not reality. It's Hollywood. I don't watch this movie for the boxing scenes anyway. This movie is about so much more than boxing.
