Frank and Anna

In my opinion, this is a top notch early 80s grimy New York serial killer movie complete with a phenomenal lead and fabulous Savini effects. The only bump in the road for me was the relationship between Frank and Anna. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but it’s unlikely a good looking fashion photographer like Anna would be spending time with a creep like Zito. It’s like the whole film was this wild ride and when presented with this situation, I felt somewhat taken out of the movie. It’s a minor gripe, but did anyone else feel this way?

100%. It didn't get in my way of enjoying the movie overall, but every time she was receptive to him it set off my "OH GIMME A BREAK" alarm. My capacity for suspension of disbelief has its limits.

I know, right? If the dude would have been throwing around money or drugs things might have added up a little better.

reply

lol yeah it was poor writing how they suddenly start dating.

Oh, wait a minute. I did a little reading and Joe Spinell was a cowriter. Now things are making sense. :)

Was Joe Spinell known to be a bad script writer?

reply

Not that I’m aware of, but I can imagine him steering the story in the direction of him dating her.

reply

Ah I see.

I heard he was on cocaine when this movie was shot and made.
