Yea I was slightly disappointed as well.
I see what the OP was saying that it was confusing. Not that I really ever had a hard time understanding the overall story itself, but for a Yank like myself some of the rapid paced English accents can make some of the tiny details hard to catch. Also, it doesn't help that for 80% of the movie the viewer is supposed to be as confused as Harold.
The pacing was fine in that there was always something sort of propelling events further, but it's kind of annoying that for the vast majority of the movie it's just the Corporation trying a new way to get information, or something else getting blown up.
But I did like the movie overall. Bob Hoskins was fantastic, Helen Mirren was great (and pretty sexy), the plot was cool, but for some reason everything didn't really click like I feel like it could have.
But I'll be the first to admit, I'm not 100% on board with British TV/cinema. I love a lot of it, like the Guy Ritchie movies and the original Get Carter, but a fair amount of English movies like Nil By Mouth and Naked that seem so up my alley just don't do it for me.
