Which is the better title?

Which title do you prefer for this movie?

City Of The Walking Dead is a bit of a misnomer as the creatures do more running, driving, and flying than walking.

Nightmare City gives away the ending.

Invasion Of The Atomic Vampires is, for me, the best title for this movie. It basically rolls up the entire premise into one concise bit of information without tipping the ending of the movie.

I prefer Nightmare City by far

Rædslernes Blodige By (which is the danish title), translates as Terrors Bloody City

Nightmare City.

'Nightmare City' is my choice and it doesn't necessarily give away the ending. Horrific situations in waking moments are quite often called nightmares.

I prefer City of the Walking Dead, even if it's inaccurate. I really dislike the title Nightmare City, it sounds like a different type of movie. I'm a bit suspect of some of the alleged alternates though. I can find no evidence of this being called Invasion by the Atomic Vampires anywhere.

When I rented this movie from the video store like thirty years ago, it had the title City of the Walking Dead with the bloated faced zombie on the cover. Then the years went by and I couldn’t find that movie I saw anywhere. I even forgot the title, getting it mixed up with City of the Living Dead, even though I knew that was a different movie.

So a lifetime later, I saw Nightmare City thinking it was a different movie and was surprised to discover it was that same film I rented all those years ago.

But, to answer the question, I prefer the title Nightmare City even though it does kind of give away the ending.

I'm not sure they were dead, either. They seemed more like living humans who had been transformed into maniacs, kind of like the infected in 28 days later.

reply

Yeah, they weren't dead, just infected. The movie even suggests that those shot in the head still aren't dead! Just immobilized.

reply

Yep, I’ve seen interviews with Umberto Lenzi where he stated they are “infected people.”
