Is this some kind of reference to duplicating the lonely shenanigans of pirates of times of yore?
I thought he said, "He could use a good kiss!" As in it would be good for Leia to kiss him. Of course I have met people in real life who kiss their dog or cat. So it's not that weird.

As for the scene, Han is having a hard time coping, because it's been a decade or two since any woman has failed to fall for his charm and good looks, and he's never been interested in a woman who either outranks him, or who has better things to do than be his girlfriend. He's always thought of himself as a confident, in-charge kinda guy, but on Hoth... he made the nasty discovery that he has insecurities like everyone else.
