Favourite character?

What's your favourite character from Yes Minister? Mine is Bernard...I just love the way he sits there when Humphrey and Hacker are talking, just smiling serenely, and just when you have almost forgotten he is there, he says something brilliant! Most of the time, he analyses metaphors, I believe...and in a completely irrelevant way. I just love him.

Jim Hacker. I think that Paul Eddington was a wonderful actor and I really enjoyed his performance.

I love Hacker and Bernard but my favourite will always be Humphrey.

He's someone that you would not want to make an enemy of and don't even attempt to match wits with him. I admire Nigel greatly for having been able to deliver such long and intricate speeches seemingly just from memory.

Go to bed Frank or this is going to get ugly .

I love all the characters, though I'd pick Humphrey as well, if I had to choose.

Among the supporting cast, I agree that Desmond Glazebrook was very funny. The two dons at Humphrey's old college that have a dinner with the minister were also great. I must also mention the actor playing the head of BBC who wouldn't give in to government pressure, and the cleaning lady who goes "All right, all right Jim! I can take a hint!"

I think Mrs. Hacker was wonderful in her own way, too. She had some great lines, and watching her always reminds me of the women of my childhood, around late 70's / early 80's, when women weren't afraid to look natural with little to no makeup, wear casual dresses and nylons etc. instead of going for 1000-dollar ugly shoes and the shortest dress possible.
