Turtle killing
I haven't seen the film, but I do wanna know how they killed the turtle....I mean I don't think it makes a horrible sound like the pig squeal which to me is just as sad as a dog's cry...

shareWhile I can understand killing for food, I think it was wrong how the turtle was killed. They cut off all of it's legs and it's tail first then decapitate it. Then, after cutting the bottom of it's shell, you can see it's heart is still beating and is possibly still alive (we have all heard the rumor that you can still live shortly after decapitation). Even if it didn't feel it, it is still disgusting that the people then went ahead and started scooping it's guts out and eating them. I love this film though, and I think it makes a great statement about humanity.

I wouldn't bother about 4 animals being killed for a movie, whether they were used for food or not. We have seen animals & fish have worse than this turtle every single day. I'm sure atleast 10% if not more of chickens killed everyday are wasted in one way or they other.
I watched this movie 2 days ago. They decapitated the turtle before removing its limbs, tail and finally, its shell. Its mouth and legs still move due to nerves, which makes it seem as if it's still alive when its legs are removed, but it isn't. It's the same phenomena that leaves chickens running around after their heads have been removed.
And, no, turtles are not capable of screaming or making any other vocal sound. They just twitch.
Yes, the turtles head is cut off first. The blond guy Jack even holds the head up to his mouth at the camera and mocks that he's gonna eat it. Only then do they remove the shell.
shareWait a minute! This people are defending the killing of these animals because later the meat and carcases were used as food or were "consumed"? Does that mean that anyone who's hungry can grab their or anyone's pets (Dogs, cats, etc.) and eat them? That would be OK, right? For example: "Oh don't cry little girl, your doggie was delicious, here want a leg?"
That part of the film was garbage, even if you're hungry your morals tells you that killing for fun or entertainment is totally wrong, period.
You wouldn't bother?? Call me crazy, but I think killing animals in a cruel way is way worse than killing people (at least the evil ones). Animals are innocent and people aren't. That simple, yes.

If you actually watched the scene more closely, you'd noticed that they decapitate the turtle first and then cut off its legs and tail. You got the order wrong.
I do agree with the statement about humanity though. Humans are capable of really terrible things.
Welcome to my Nightmare- Freddy Krueger
Totally agree

I agree, this was such a vile scene for ANY movie- especially considering that most of that particular species lives just as long as the average human... but it was also the music in these segments throughout that really sickened me. Upbeat music from like the original "Lolita" playing in the background. I've seen a lot of serious horror films lately, such as Irreversible, Henry, and A Serbian Film... but that turtle slaying still disturbed me the most for some reason... and I certainly ain't the PETA type either!
Look at how happy you are, so carefree. It's almost as if you don't know you're Billy Bush!-Triumph
I must be honest, the turtle killing was the only animal cruelty scene that really bothered me. It was really disgusting and gory.
Come, fly the teeth of the wind. Share my wings.
All of those animals would be dead by now anyway...I am hungry for some turtle soup (which is actually pretty damn good)
share"All these animals will be dead anyway" - I wish you get trapped in an ever lasting dream of yourself and you're mum being butchered like the poor turtle every night!!! I am sure you'll be dying for some soup every morning.... its one thing killing animals for food and use and its another things enjoying mutilation of a defenceless animal! :(
Human beings are shocking..... Id be glad if ebola spread and finished us all ffs
watched it uncut lastnight, must say its up there in the most distirbing movies ever made, thers no need to kill animals, it knocked me sick the turtle, the monkey which was macheted, and the rat and pig.
people need to get arrested for doing such barbaric things.
The turtle scene is far from disturbing unless you are a bleeding heart. If you have ever taken part in skinning your own game or fish you will find nothing of importance. People are entirely disconnected from the foods that they eat every day.
Shovel dog, is a disturbing thing to watch. And not because its furry, because its actual human evil.
Remember the scene with the kids in The Giant when the kids learn that the turkey they played with is on the dinner table.....in the old days people were more used to slaughtering animals , it just had to be done.
It's possible the ate the spider , they boil them in S America.
Still I don't like the thought of them doing it for purely entertainment (once saw a Moslem slaughter a sheep or goat but it didn't feel like exploiting , same with thais sacrificing a bull for a wedding.....tons of blood , not that pleasant to watch)
LOL......They killed a turtle and none of those stupid animal protect organizations protested against that nasty crime ?
UNBELIEVABLE
We live now at an age that killing and torturing humans is OK but when same thing happens to a dog.......then the dude who did that must be executed or hanged.
REALLY WHEN THIS ANIMAL PARANOIA WILL END ?
Eli roth in his resent green inferno was so afraid to show wild animal cruelty that he did not even showed even real wild animals hanging out in the jungle.
