Final Cut is gorgeous.

I ve never seen this film looking so crisp or with this level of brightness. Everything is in focus even in the darkest scenes. They did absolutely great job with the transfer.

Compared to the other cuts, it has the plantation scene which kinda shifts the film to a slow gear, but they cut the airfield part and also the scene with Kurtz in daylight reading the news articles, which was a bummer. Why cut any of Marlon's scenes out?

I havent seen Coppola's Final Cut yet, but I recently put in my older bluray of Redux. Coppola should have trusted his young man's instincts and cut the boring and politically naïve French Plantation sequence altogether. He got it right back in '79.

Redux destroyed Willard's monumentally serious character with the surf board stealing scenes. Its my understanding the final cut also includes those scenes, so I'm not in any hurry to see it. I bought the recent 4K bluray release, but primarily for the theatrical cut.

What’s the airfield part?

I also prefer the Final Cut, it keeps the extended scenes with Kilgore and his more epic introduction, but removes the playboy bunny scene (that was just dumb), and the extra scenes with Kurtz which I never cared for.

I wish they had trimmed the plantation scene a little more however, from what I understand it’s a few minutes shorter but I think they could have chopped it in half (leave Cleans funeral in though)
