Oh I do!! The yellow VW bug on the Pacific Coast Highway with Barry singing "....and...I'm..(wait for it)...READY to take a chance again..."
Aah, the original VW Beetle! My first two cars were original Beetles, so I especially love that scene. Those things drove like a go-cart and had such a trademark engine sound! The music and cinematography of that scene was great, with the sweeping views. Makes me want to visit SF again!
Drug references in '70s films were regarded as much more innocent back then
So true! I was watching this morning, and had to laugh when Chevy Chase and Brian Dennehy (Fergie) come to Gloria's apartment after she's attacked there. When she says she 'stabbed him with the needles', Fergie says, "oh, narcotics". She replies, "No, knitting". Just the casual use of the word 'narcotics' is so unusual to me, especially because you normally think of heroin when you think of drug needles.
Oddly enough, I'm way more sentimental about Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? which came out around the same time. I never even saw it until a couple of weeks ago, but I've always remembered the commercial, where the big fat pompous British guy says "Who is it this time... Aunt Jemima?" and shovels some food into his mouth.
Holy crap, I totally forgot about that movie! It was shown time and time again on HBO, back when we first got cable. George Segal and Jacqueline Bisset! Good times!
