The disrespect towards this movie is disgusting!

The negative posts are becoming more frequent, and I can bet it's coming from young people. People who are lost in the modern world of facebook, cellphones and video gaming who have no appreciation for historic art. If you can't appreciate great story telling, or brilliant character building like in DOTD simply because a movie is 30 years old you truly lack imagination. Put yourself in the survivors situation, you have a mall all to yourself, a safe haven that is suddenly pulled away from under your feet when sadistic bikers show up. Trapped in an elevator with a horde coming at you. Waiting to see if your husband is dead or alive to find him coming through the door as a zombie. Putting a bullet in your best friends head after he's been bitten. Sorry, but that is great horror, and that is great drama. The walking dead has never pulled anything like that off.

I don't consider anyone who doesn't like this movie a real horror fan.

I get that Dawn 2004 might me more accessable however, disregarding the original Dawn is like a metal head not appreciating Black Sabbath.

I personally think its one of the best horror films ever made (definitely my personal favorite Zombie film, by far).

I understand why you are upset, but you have to understand the perspective of all the viewers who saw this way after it came out. Its no question that there have been countless zombie movies since this came out, and it continues to be a very popular genre in Hollywood. There's been plenty of horrible zombie movies, but theres also been tons of very cool zombie movies that have added good elements to the genre. DotD started a very successful trend of movies that have long surpassed it in almost every way.

You are trashing on the younger generation for not liking this movie, but you probably also had the privilege of getting to see this movie when it first came out. You got to see the original zombie movies and everything in order since then, but everyone else just has to watch them in order and judge them that way. You can't judge the original DotD by modern zombie movie standards, because truthfully it sucks by those standards.

There is no use trying to convince others to see the greatness that is Dawn of the Dead (1978)...You can't change their minds and trying to do so is a futile effort...People are going to like what they want to like...Personally, I rate Dawn 10/10...

The feeling we have here — remember it, take it home and do some good with it. Please be kind

I was born in 2002 and I love this movie.

But I can understand why some people might not like it:
1) Satirical humour might be lost on people who had never seen the 70s.
2) The campy jokes might also turn some people off if they were expecting 100% horror.
3) The blood effects, while of good quality, are a little too red and unrealistic.

I'll admit I was confused at first by 1) and 2), but I really liked the synth soundtrack, the likeable characters, and the atmosphere. And eventually I warmed up to the satire and camp too.

P.S. I have yet to see a full episode of The Walking Dead.
