This Vs Dawn of the Dead (2004)?

So far I've only seen the original, I haven't seen the remake yet so I can't really say which ones better, I do own the remake as well but I haven't watched it yet so which Dawn Of The Dead movie do you like better and why?

reply

I enjoy both. The original is quite a bit different than the re-make.
But I'd have to go with the 1978 version. šŸ±

I honor the dead with Easter-eggs! Please view & comment on my new living dead tribute, ā€The Walkerā€! www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EIsv6QmEHk
We tried to include Easter-egg's like, the space-probe and cement spade from the first NotLD filmā€¦ Michonne's Katana can be seen hanging on the kitchen wall... As well as COREL'S pudding on the kitchen counter! We even threw in a couple of vintage Mustangs!

Remake 2004 wayyyy better.

The original is an experience (each time you view it).

The remake is a movie. It's serviceable, yes, but, there is nary comparison.

reply

Iā€™d say I liked the original a little more.

reply

Like them both but have to go with the original.

reply

Oh the remake, easily. Makes the original look like trash by comparison. The original is great if you're looking for a silly campy poorly made romp. But other than that, the remake has it beat hands down. I don't mean to sound like I'm crapping on the original, it has it's place, I'm just saying if I want some campy fun I'll pop in the original, but if I want a well made serious zombie flick then I'll go for the remake.

reply

You, my friend, fucking suck.

reply

Hilarious! You should write a sitcom!

The moment people start using words like a "serious" as an indicator of better, I stay away right there, I almost wanted to watch the remake, as I haven't seen it, I better not now, thank you.

I prefer artistic personal touch of an auteur over something that belongs to the reality that anyone can replicate, Romero creates his world, his version of reality, perhaps anything that is so-called campy is made that way. :)

reply

The original, but the remake is pretty good too. Especially the first fifteen minutes.

reply

I love both.

The 1978 version is the movie that really started the zombie movie craze of the 80s. It has tons of flaws, but it still holds up.

The 2004 version is one of the best zombie movies of the second wave of zombies that arrived in the early 00s after the popularity of the Resident Evil games and 28 Days Later. Sarah Polley was perfect for the role and the rest if the cast was good too. My only problem with it is that stupid scene with the dog. So dumb.

reply

WHAT STUPID SCENE?

reply

The teenage girl leaves the mall to follow her dog (which was intentionally sent out) among thousands of zombies and ends up getting 6 people killed.

reply

YEAH.OK.TO BE FAIR I THINK ITS TEENAGE GIRLS WHO ARE STUPID MORE THAN THAT PARTICULAR SCENE.
