I heard the Soska sisters are planning on a remake. I loved the original, and I'm not a fan of remakes, but I love what I have seen from the sisters and am curious on what they can do. Thoughts anyone?

I have a bad feeling about this! Reason I say so is because a lot of the horror sequences are probably going to be laden with unconvincing CGI (ex: The bloodsucking organ under the armpit will probably appear as a mini Sarlac Pit ala' Return of the Jedi).

Not just CGI, but a lot of formerly R-rated movies are coming out PG13.

I find it unlikely that a remake to Rabid will get anything lower than an R rating. I've seen American Mary, from the makers of the upcoming remake of Rabid, so it's pretty much established that they are mainly R/NC-17 directors/writers.

Yep!

I like the Soska sisters so I think it will be good. Also American Mary had some awesome special effects - some that didn't even look like special effects until after I saw how there were done in Behind the Scenes (like a dummy that looked super real). So I think they'll do a good job.

They have some good old school approach to horror.

And it's two years later and the remake of Rabid now inhabits the bargain bins at Walmart and nobody thinks of it anymore. Meanwhile, Cronenberg's original remains a disturbing 70's horror classic.
