Charlie's Angel's came out in the fall of 1976. A Star Is Born was filmed well before that. By the time 'The Main Event' came out her curls had softened and she was wearing those track shorts that had become so popular.

There were lots of people with afros in 1976. What people tend to call "the '60s" didn't actually happen until the LATE-'60s, drifting into the '70s (the official end of the Vietnam War and the US involvement in it, for instance, was in 1975). In fact the '70s was a relatively slow period in terms of pop culture change from beginning to end.

I'm wondering how old you are. I was a teen in the '70s and afros were in style, even up until 1980. Gosh, how I long for those days! :)

Hated her hair in this film! Before this she had long blond hair,then short hair and then this horrible fro! Yuck!

Many, many people - men and women - were getting perms in the 70s. It was a very popular look, but let's hope it never comes back. Feathered hair flattered everyone and was easy to style and maintain. Come back, feathered hair - all is forgiven! Blue eyeshadow too.

My mom, my dad & my aunt all sported this 'do' for quite awhile after this movie! I remember seeing my parents, walking thru the house, spraying their hair with the ceramic mister bottles we used on our houseplants. Pic's and misting water! :)

Streisand's partner at the time, Jon Peters, was her hairdresser. Then, as one does, he became her movie producer.

Great hairdresser, lousy movie producer.

He's got his name on a whole bunch of good films over a long period. I don't really know what a producer does but he must be good at something.

Actually this IMDb trivia is interesting. It implies he's accumulated so much cinematic capital people are forced to work with him.

Purchased the film rights to the Superman franchise in the early 1990s from Warner Bros. For Man of Steel (2013), he was paid a seven figure fee up front and promised a percentage of the profits, in exchange for being banned from the set and doing no publicity for the film. This was reportedly at the behest of producer Christopher Nolan.

Was credited as a producer on A Star Is Born (2018) only because he held the rights to the previous version, A Star Is Born (1976). Bradley Cooper stated in several interviews that Peters had no involvement with his version and was in fact barred from the set

She looked awful! It was hard to buy that the guy could be attracted to her. Not just the hair, her wardrobe was hideous too. She was glamourous in Funny Girl and looked like a star. In this film, she looked like the lunch lady. Yes, there were better hairstyles in 1976, ones that would have been infinitely more flattering. Didn’t she date a hairdresser? Was this mess his doing? Very likely, if he was really like the lunetic character in Licorice Pizza.
