How did the executives expect the game od Rollerball to "demonstrate the futility of individualism"?
A game that involves personal hand-to-hand combat and demonstrations of skill by named team members does that how?

shareMy take on it was, the high injury and death rate, would demonstrate that hte named individuals were just cogs in teh machine, that needed replaced and were used up.
Imagine modern sports but with such turnover that no one earns stuff like HALL OF FAME, or becomes talking head announcers.
That makes sense on the surface, but you'd think if they considered it a bit, they would have realized that someone could excel and gain personal recognition in the sport. They should have masked the players ("for their protection") and referred to them only by numbers if they really wanted to deny individualism.
shareMaybe they should have. Hell, maybe that's what they planned to do, after all the players did have numbers, and when implemented the sports announcers just,... fell into using names to pander to fans to get ratings, and the higher goal was lost in the day to day operations.
I've seen dumber shit by managers in real life.
The strength of the group over the individual!!!
