How they could have made Rhoda and Joe’s marriage more interesting

I think Rhoda needed a Phyllis type of character to play off of.

Joe’s ex-wife Marion would have been a great addition to the show. Especially if she was still interested in Joe and wanted to get back together with him. It would make Rhoda feel insecure.

Also the fact that try as she might Marion being frustrated that she could never break them up even playing the “We have a child together” card.

Also have Joe’s son have more of a personality and have him really like Rhoda which would drive Marion up the wall. Sort of like how Bess always liked Rhoda in spite of Phyllis.

I’m just sorry that they only used Marion in one episode.

I liked Marion too. She really brought out the insecurities of Rhoda. Not that it was hard to do!

Your suggestions are good ones. I always thought the show suffered because of too many cast changes.

That's a really good idea, and I wish the show had done something like that.
