Sleestacks Poll

Okay, show of hands from Generation Xers and people from the generation of the 70s that watched this show. Who among you is willing to admit that the Sleestacks scared the living crap out of you?

*raises hand proudly*

reply

My brother and I used to watch the show in syndication, and while I've forgotten a lot of it, I do have vivid memories of the Sleestacks clawing through the cobwebs and scaring the crap out of us. Sure they were slow cuz they were just waking up, but I always figured they'd speed up once the blood started flowing. :P

He asked us, "Be you angels?"
and we said, "NAY, we are but men," ROCK!

reply

I wasn't scared of the Sleestak. 30 years ago, I was too busy being scared of things that were real!

If you can't beat 'em, find someone who can and join them!

Bump!
Hsssssssssssssssssssssssss.....

reply

When I first saw this show as a little boy back in the late 70's I thought the Sleestacks were absolutely terrifying.

I enjoy keeping busy. Satan finds work for idle hands.

reply

Sleestacks scared the bejeezus out of me.

I'd like to own a squadron of tanks.

reply

Yeah, they pretty much kept me scared. I was also scared of that thing in "The Musician" the orange apparition person that was played by Philip Paley's sister.

I admit it!!!

...and to thik this was a Saturday morning show for young children....I just wonder if an of the parents ever complained about it

reply

Just hearing the name creeps me out! Sleestacks...<shudder>

reply

no, i wasnt scared by them. they were pretty entertaining. i remember the tension involved when they made their appearance. it was amazing!

actually-- other Krofft characters like WitchiePoo, and EVERY ONE OF THOSE HAT PEOPLE in Lidsville bothered me. the Lidsville creatures were figments of my nightmares of i suffered from the flu.

reply

They scared me a lot at first, then I realized that they weren't going to do anything, just stand around looking silly

reply

Yeah, after a while of just standing there, semi hunched over and hissing, it got a bit old. The Pylon was scarier by far..so surreal.

reply

parents didn't complain about those things back then. parents used the tv as a half hour baby sitter, they didn't sit there and watch the shows with the kids. it wasn't untill the yuppie parent/teacher tipper gore morality cult era that parents started complaining.

well i was 3-6 at the time.

i have to raise 2 hands to that one.
i was terrified of those bastards.

i wonder how funny they would look now looking at it now at 36. Probably look goofy.

reply

Those Sleestacks really freaked me out when I was small (four to six years old) - and I happened to catch an episode today and although those bastards don't scare me now, I still got that same weird freaky feeling I used to!

reply

YES!!! BIG TIME!! Those sleestack creeped me out!!! What's funny, is that I remember as a kid, I dreamed of a blue sleestack type creature with the round eyes, and when I woke up, ...it was my blue sneakers, laying on the floor in a certain way!!

reply

Yeah, I was 5-7 when that show was on. I had nightmares of those jokers, chasing me and my family in some cave. Still kinda give me the heebie-jeebies. :)
