Sleestacks Poll

Okay, show of hands from Generation Xers and people from the generation of the 70s that watched this show. Who among you is willing to admit that the Sleestacks scared the living crap out of you?

I'll throw my hand up, too. Those things were creepy! That horrible sound they made! And what was lurking under that fog! I'm so glad this show is finally on DVD.

Of course the Sleestaks were unsettling and somewhat nightmarish.....but not as much as Charles Nelson Reilly as Hoodoo the magician on that other Sid and Marty Krofft opus, Lidsville. Come to think of it, the hat-people were pretty disturbing too...

What really scares me is how often my son (16 months) sounds like a sleestack!

reply

I'm waving mine. I'm still afraid of those ugly things. LOL

Both hands... totally raised!!!

*raises hand to having watched it regularly.
More than scaring me though, the sleestaks amazed me at how bad a shot they were with them crossbows, lol. :)

OMG, Bill Lambier! LOL!

Ahem. Yes, the sleestacks were frightening mainly because they were slow yet so freakin relentless. Run all you want, but those cold-blooded monsters will just keep coming at their own pace. And you'll have to stop some time...

Yeah they were scary. Slow and relentless like my other favorite monsters: zombies. However I must say that little horn or whatever on their heads always made me think of a peice of hair like a cowlick. The big eyes were scary too.

Yeah, the Sleestaks were slow, I could see that even at age 4/5. BUT! When the Marshalls went inside where the Sleestaks lived? "GAME OVER, MAN! GAME OVER!"
As a kid, if I heard anything hissing around me, I damn sure looked around like crazy!

In 1991 you could see the effects and influence the Sleestaks (and the Kroffts) had? Anybody who has seen the movie, "New Jack City" already KNOWS, Wesley Snipes' evil drug lord character "Nino Brown" was sportin' his haircut like how the Sleestaks heads looked! Coinicidence? Well considering both were evil characters, I STILL loved the reference to it. Check out that movie and you'll see what I mean!
