Johnny Depp is about to make my dreams come true! He will be playing none other than Carl Kolchak the Night Stalker in a film of the same name from Disney. Five years have gone by and no remake. I'm pretty sure this is a dead horse.
Another poster thought Depp was too effete to play the Carl Kolchak character. But I saw a mystery thriller where Depp plays a hard-nose investigator investigating a very old religious tome that people are being killed to obtain. His character was not effete. He came across manly enough.
I'd say the same for Donnie Brasco, but his career average is not reassuring.

I always imagined James Woods as Kolchak. Cranston sounds like a good choice, but what about Kevin Spacey?
