THIS is what I was upset over??

I saw this movie when I was 9. I got so upset over the boy who got turned into the half snake, and sold to the freak show, that I cried and had nightmares. My un-compassionate brother, then made fun of me, by imitating the poor half snake half boy.

All I could remember was that guy, and in the end, Dirk Benedict turns into a snake.

I TiVo'd this the other night, just so I could face my demons.

OOH MY GOSH!!! There was enough cheese and corn in this movie to make chowder.

The noises that poor half snake half boy made, though, did get to me a bit....they sound like the noise that comes from my oboe reed when I blow through it, before I stick it in the oboe!

We all need to form a therapy group...I was 10 or 11 when I saw this movie at a drive-in & it traumatized me.I saw it along with "Bug" which made it worse. That's why I like to see a movie first before any of my kids do.

I don't recall seeing Bug - I'll have to check that one out! I think I saw this movie along with The Boy Who Cried Werewolf....remember that one?

You are the idiots who watched this movie knowing it was about snakes. Obviously a movie with snakes all over the place is not for kids.

A lot of us grew up traumatized! LOL! :) We grew up in the era where we used our imaginations and watched movies in the dark, unlike the kids today who watch stupid slasher films in the day time cause they can't handle it in the dark! LOL! :) This film got to me too, as did Gargoyles, Trilogy of Terror, etc! :) Glad I have a lot of cheese in my movie collection!

This is the only scene I remember at this point and think on it from time to time. What upset me was that he was half human, half snake and you could see it in his eyes that he'd always know he was still in-between the two. I was in tears.

That scene is oddly evocative and effective. Lots of people remember it. My wife and I each saw this (separately) when it aired on local TV in the Bay Area in 1979 or '80 (I remember because I was in the 4th grade, which means my wife was in the 6th), and we were both horrified by that scene when we first saw the movie during the Jimmy Carter administration, and when we watched in again in 2004.

Been making IMDB board posts since the 90s, yet can't bring up any from before December of 2004.

I saw this film at a UK cinema in 1973. My then boyfriend (now my husand of 37 years) and I would go and see anything! Lol.
I remember being scared out of my wits! I'd love to see it now to see what all the fuss was about.

If you can't be a good example -- then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

Curiously I felt horrified and upset during the entire Carter administration, snake movie or not....
