There was no indication that he was gay. Babu was voiced by Joe Besser, one of the six 3 Stooges (because there were six actors over the course of their existence as a comedy team).

He was green in skin color, though.

He wasn't gay. He was immature and Jeanie was put in charge of educating him.

I've actually only seen him on the one time he did the Scooby Doo Crossover

He sure seemed like it lol. .So did Funky Phantom and Snagglepuss.

Back then we would’ve said, “he was a bit fruity”. Gay was always overblown in portrayal. But I agree with you that he at least had gay-caricature overtones.
