Quotes from the movie

This is a shot in the dark but I'll put it out there in case any of you know the exact line(s) used in the film.

When Judy meets Howard in the drug store, she starts in about what types of rocks interest her. She begins...

"I can take your igneous rocks or leave them. I related primarily to quartz, micas, feltzbar..."

What follows after this?

Thank you,

Glen

Who do you think they'll arrest the girl in the tub or the guy with his pants down?

reply

Judy: "You're going to need an awfully big glass of water to get that down"

Eunice: "I'M COMING IN!"

Judy: What's up, Doc?

Howard: I beg your pardon?

Judy: We gotta stop meeting like this.

Howard: I think you've made a mistake. You see, I only came in here for something for a headache.

Judy: You're gonna need an awful big glass of water to get that down.

Howard: What? No, you see I was just testing this specimen for inherent tonal qualities. I have this theory about early man's musical relationship to igneous rock formations. But I guess you're not interested in igneous rock formations.

Judy: Not as much as I am in the sedimentary or metamorphic rock categories. I mean, I can take to igneous rocks or leave 'em. I relate primarily to micas, quartz, feldspar. You can keep your Pyroxenes, magnetites and coarse grained plutonics as far as I'm concerned.

Howard: I forgot why I came in here.

Judy: Headache.

Eunice looking for Barbra in Howard's room
Eunice: What are your rocks doing in the bathroom?
Howard: I was taking a bath Eunice.
Eunice: Since when do you take bubble baths?
Howard: It came out of the faucet that way.

Barbra Striesand to the guy who stole the sandwich that she ordered under false pretences.
Judy: I don't know who he is, but I hate him.

Judy: Hey look, we both have the same bag!

This movie was inspired partially by Howard Hawk's zany 30s comedy Bringing Up Baby with Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant.
Peter Bogdanovich, the director, does a very good job on the director's commentary on the DVD. Apparantly the movie was one of the biggest grossing comedies of its time. He said when they premiered it at Grauman's Chinese Theater, he went outside during part of the chase scene and claimed he could feel the theater shaking outside from all the laughing coming from the crowd inside. I would have loved to have been there to see it in its premiere

this one's my favorite:

Cab Driver, after dropping Eunice off at the docks: You didn't want me to wait, did ya?

Eunice: well, actually I do.

Cab Driver: I didn't think so. (peels out)

This isn't in order and some lines are not like they were said. And first he said I don't want a wife. And other things were left out.

She was indeed!

Soft Kitten, if you're reading this, you are TOO fabulous! I was reading the posts where the quotes were a bit wrong, and I was going "No, no, that's not it, he doesn't say "I'm", he says "I am", and so on!" LOL. But it's great to know that so many people out there appreciate this exceptionally brilliantly funny movie!

There are many memorable lines but one of my favorites is when John Hillerman, later Higgins from Magnum PI, playing the hotel manager comes into the mostly destroyed room and says stoically to Ryan that the hotel would like you to check out. Ryan responds: when? Hillerman says, "Yesterday" which Ryan responds, "that soon?" Great dialog and one wonders if someone saw this scene and it influenced casting Hillerman in Magnum PI.
