Favorite Scene? or Editing Sequence?

I love this film and there is a lot to love about it, but I was wondering what people loved the most? Since movies these days offer such fancy and elaborate CGI action sequences, I came to respect and utterly fall in love with the scene where the mobster boys are come to the El Paso Hotel (whatever it's called) about to go up to McCoy's Room and Doc and Ali McGraw are coming down the stairs. The editing there was fantastically done where "McCoy sees them, they see him, zoom in on villain, Mcqueen drops jacket revealing shotgun and boom!" such a great sequence! anyways what do you think?

The final moments in the hotel are brilliant (especially for the specific scene you mentioned), but the entire sequence where McQueen goes to buy a radio and ends up shooting the cop car has got to be my favorite.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

My favorite scene is when they show All them Cowboy hat wearing henchmen all packed into that caddy convertible, all chilled out sitting in the car like they're just heading to a casino or sunday afternoon barbeque, but they're heading out on a mission to do some serious slaying. Funny irony about that scene. The music soundtrack in that scene tells everyone they're out for Blood, but you could dub over that sinister soundtrack and have some kind of happy hillbilly music playing away. Its just funny when you think about it.

my favorite scenes are the car stunts after the bank heist. The shotgun shoot up of the cop car and the blue 4 door Chevy tearing up the pavement chasing after the bus. Then the car chase/shootout at the drive in restaurant.

I love the opening credits with all the freeze frames, and the lunch meeting on the boat.

I love the whole thing and watch it religiously every Spring.

When Benyon (With the glasses) and his goons finds his brother dead in his ranch house. 'What are we gonna do with Jack?' 'Just throw him down a dry well'
Ben Johnson great as usual.

I LOVE the shootout in the hotel; it's one of the most underrated action scenes ever, IMO.

For sheer nerve-wracking tension, that scene in the back of the garbage truck is also a nightmare. Sam the Man Peckinpah was not without talent.

The film is chock-full of great extemporaneous scenery, but the one that always cracks me up is the scene where Doc is trying to get back in the blue chevy after shooting up the cop car, and Carol, in her anxiety, accidentally hits the gas pedal, sending the car backward and Doc to the pavement. You can tell from McQueen's shocked reaction as he sprawls on the street that it was unplanned, but, like other brilliantly unscripted bits in the film, it works perfectly.
