Long single shot scene

I really like the long single shot scene that pans around the underground dwelling in this film. It is really creepy. Full marks to the director for doing this as it is very original and unusual. My favorite horror film scene ever. What does everyone else think about this scene ?

Completely agree; that shot is what let me know this movie was going to be something different. It gave me a feeling of claustrophobia, like I was being smothered by all that earth. The first shot is of the severed arm, the only other stimulus being the sound of cavern-like water droplets. You want to look around and take in the surroundings so bad, but it's like the director has your head restrained, forcing you to take the tour inch by inch. A close comparison would be like being in a straight jacket and suddenly needing to scratch your toe. That's the stuff madness is made of!

I very much enjoyed the contrast between the two different moods within the movie. One minute it's light and witty with Donald Pleasence, the next we're seeing a man have his throat cut like stuck pig.

To this day that scene is incredibly powerful and just seething with DREAD. One of the reasons why RAW MEAT remains one of my favorite horror films.

It is a very original and absolutely creepy scene! Makes me feel claustrophobic, but yes I love it, it' s so horrible and intimate at the same time.
