Original, hands down. Had character, soul, you cared about the rats. I like Glover as an actor, but found the remake completely flat and uninvolving. Sad that the remake is available, and the classic is not.

The remake is good but as with 97% of cases the original is better.

I saw the original in the theater and the remake on DVD. Loved the original, but I think the remake was much more interesting to watch. Crispin Glover is intense ("Tear it. Tear it up."), and brings a very complicated sexuality to the role. I also enjoyed the art direction of the remake.
