This Film Gets Lots of Praise

I always hear that Caliber 9 is the best Fernando Di Leo film, and one of the best of the Euro Crime genre, but after watching it a handful of times I just don’t get it. I’m not sure if I just dislike Gastone Moschin as the lead, but Italian Connection is such a more fun film filled with great performances compared to this. Moving out of the genre, I even enjoy Di Leo’s sleazy and odd Slaughter Hotel more than Caliber 9.

So my question is for those who really enjoy this film, what about it puts it above other euro crimes? I do like it, especially Mario Adorf’s performance and the nice cast of genre regulars, least of which was the amazing Barbara Bouchet. Here is my ranked list of Poliziotteschi.
