i voted it a 1 - based on worn-out themes and absolutely awful music. i'd have voted it a 0 except the sets and costume were great. my rating is based on my opinion of the movie's worth, and absolutely nothing to do with religion.

Please cite three movies made prior to Fiddler On The Roof which have the same plot.
religious persecution, star-crossed lovers, matchmaking, children disobeying parents, perseverence in the face of hardship - how could i stop at three movies? and before movies even came into existence, how about books with similar storylines going back to Roman times? instead, how about you please cite three aspects of Fiddler on the Roof that are entirely orginal that make it stand out to you.

The things you cite are themes, not plot. The plot is a father's three daughters marrying in increasing violation of tradition, and how he deals with it. I know of no other movie with this plot.
thank you for the correction! :) i have edited my original post.

Fair enough. I therefore withdraw the question. :)

To me your comment is a bunch of BS. Not saying you rated it based on religion, but to me a movie only gets a 1 if it is as bad as a movie can possibly be. I think the only movie I have ever given a 1 is the Mike Meyers Cat in the Hat. Most movies IMO should fall between 1-10 somewhere rather than being right on the nose 10 or 1. The amount of those scores given out is preposterous.
Just my opinion but a lot of the music was wonderful.
and you are just as entitled to your opinion as i am to mine :) i completely agree that Cat in the Hat warranted a 1.

Whenever I rate a movie, I only rate them as a 1 or a 10. If a movie is rated as a 7 and I agree that it's a 7, I don't rate that movie. Movies rated at 8 which I feel are a 6 are movies that I rate as 1 star to bring the movie down a teensy bit closer to where I feel it should be. And movies that I think are incredible that are rated as a 6, I will always rate as a 10 to bring them up a teensy bit closer to where I think they should be.
P.S. I rated Fiddler On The Roof as a 10 even though I think it's a 9. :D
And in my opinion people who rate like you to try to alter the total rating toward their side makes a mockery of the rating process. I'm with you on Fiddler being a 9.
