mistake in one of cinema's most famous scenes

Harry only fired 5 shots during the bank robbery scene. after the shotgun there were 6 shots but the 5th came from the last guy Harry shot. So when Harry delivers his famous line, the gun shouldn't have been empty.. unless he didn't fully load it prior to the scene

I just watched it, and counted them. 6 shots. 5 on screen, 1 more we hear the sound and the effect of the bullet on the wall.

Actually the mistake was that it was the most powerful handgun.

Just watched Dirty Harry tonight. He only fired four shots. One was edited out for some reason.
