I'm skeptical. I've searched the web and there is no mention of a DVD (besides the trash I see on eBay). But, if you say you got it, well, you got it. I had my hands on a copy of the United Artists VHS, but lost track of it back in '86. Longing to get a copy of it again...

Come to Canada, go to a walmart in Southern Ontario, pick up a copy, watch it, smile. Done.

Hi, I also live in Canada and I have been looking for Let It Be on dvd for years and I've even been told its been discontinued. Were in Canada do you live and how long ago did you buy this. Reply back. Please and thank you.

My question is : Why is it taking so long for an official US release ? Does anybody know ? Is there some kind of question as to which versions of the songs to use now that "Let It Be...Naked" has come out ? Anybody know ?

reply

Hi. I live in Ontario, Canada. I bought the Special Edition DVD in mid-September. thank you.

Please. What a load of crap. Do you enjoy misleading all these people?

reply

The DVD is being offered on eBay, so clearly it exists. It's a 2 disc set, including a "making of" documentary (seems redundant, no?) and some black & white footage. So our friend from tht North is not full of crap at all.

I checked the Wal-Mart Canada site (which - I'll might add is completely useless) and couldn't find anything on a 'Let It Be' DVD.

Please give us more information – What company was it released by, is it the pan & scan version released on VHS and LD, a link to the cover etc…

It was meant to be released this year by Apple in September (2005) but that fell though. I think if melodyweaver’s story is true, then there are is a smaller impendent company releasing it out of license (just like the Laser Disc release). But then again does Wal-Mart sell bootlegs?

Hey, for anyone who has a copy of the DVD or VHS, can you do me a BIG favor?

In the rooftop concert, I recall seeing the Fender Bassman amp Paul is using.
Can any of you get a still .jpg of the amp that shows which Bassman amp he is using? My email is [email protected]

I recall it to be a Bassman 100. I have been told this is impossible since that amp wasn't released by Fender until after the Beatles had broken up.
But, I've been told that Fender on occasion sent gear to artists to try out before it was available to the general public.

So, if any of you can get a good image of that amp. Or just pause the film long enough to take a good look and report back, I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks.

To Sojurn - according to the book 'Beatles Gear', Paul was playing a new Fender 50 watt Fender Bassman 'Silverface' amp with a tall cabinet holding 2 12-inch speakers. At the Twickenham sessions (early in the first 2 weeks) the cabinet still had the 'Bassman' sticker on it, but Paul pulled it off and stuck it on his Hofner bass for the latter part of the sessions. Hope this helps.

I know in Japan it was avaiable on Laser Disc for years. Was it released from Apple Corp. or United Artists/MGM?

reply

I don't see a Japanese LD, but there was an early American LD release: http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/31192/4508-80/The-Beatles:-Let-It-Be
The publisher is "Magnetic Video," a 20th Century Fox subsidiary.
There was also a US CED version: http://www.lddb.com/ced/01020//Let-It-Be

I also live in Southern Ontario, Toronto to be exact, and in all my time at Wal-Mart not once have I seen Let It Be on DVD. If it was available on DVD I would think I'd know or hear about it.
I do own a copy of LIB on DVD but it is an import bootleg.

I've been waiting, waiting, waiting, like everyone. I also signed up for the dvd on Amazon's wait list. I have old copies taped from PBS decades ago but I was wondering if anyone knows if, when the dvd comes out (hopefully someday before I die - I saw the Beatles in Chicago in '64 and '65, so I'm old), will there be multiple "tracks" that will let you watch camera shots of your own choosing? I would love to just see the continuous film capture of John, Paul and George rather than all the dumb shots of everyone else milling about on the roof and in the street. I know I'm probably dreaming but I think it would be so cool to be your own "director" when watching this and see just the shots of J,P and G. (Sorry, I'm not a big Ringo fan.)

reply

I kind of doubt it. They would need to have the original video footage from the different cameras. However, I agree that it would make a great dvd feature to have more than one video angle.

reply

I totally agree with wolfman, would be nice to see footage not shown in the movie. A started a new topic about that too, feel free to add comments!

reply

Uh, I live in Canada, and I have certainly never come across said Let It Be dvd, and I've been waiting this one out a while. I suppose there is a possibility that it was released briefly and recalled, regardless I'm hoping we will see it soon, maybe when Michael Jackson screws more kids he'll need the royalties.

reply

you definitely did not get an official Apple release of Let It Be on DVD because there is none. there are pirate copies that look official, but it's not. an official DVD release does NOT exist, Canada or anywhere else in the world. if it did exist, it would be wide screen and most likely would have remastered audio.

there was a laser disc version released in the 1980's and i suspect this is the source for the DVD versions floating around. you can also find these on ebay, sometimes with b&w outtake footage. but this is NOT an official DVD release.

THERE IS NO OFFICIAL DVD RELEASE OF LET IT BE !!!! period!!!

reply

I heard from the last post that there is no official dvd, but does this package here contain anything of interest: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F52LIO/qid=1145262097/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-3532748-8874225?s=dvd&v=glance&n=130

it says it has a dvd included but i dont know what of.
