Just wondering, because I remeber watching THE ARISTOCATS with my mom in 1985 or something. it think it was the first film and the first Disney film I enjoyed it was also the I went to the movies, actually.
it was the lion king. i remember it so clearly because i borrowed it from my aunt when i was 4. then the next day someone robbed our house and stole our new bird and the cassette (but not the case... hmm), along with other things. that's how i remember! ah, memories.
To all the posters who replied saying they saw the features on videos in 1980s, that was when they were actually being available for the first time, originally they were NEVER going to be on video.
I think it was Aladdin that I first saw. I remember watching Beauty and the Beast when I was quite young too. And Cinderella. But I'm sure Aladdin was my first.

My first would have been either Cinderella or Bambi. I'm guessing Bambi, since I don't remember it well, but I definitely remember seeing Cinderella at the drive-in (back in the days when first-run movies were in drive-ins). I know that's where I saw Bambi, as well; I just don't remember it at all.
I'm not sure which of these was first, as they are all vague recollections from the early 70s, and I don't have any idea of the order these events occurred in:
- I remember my older brother taking me and my cousin Bradley to see Mary Poppins in the theater. All I really remember is that my cousin fell asleep during the movie.
- I remember my older brother taking me to see Bedknobs and Broomsticks being shown at his high school.
- I remember my Mom, my mom's best friend, and her son (about the same age as me) going to see Robin Hood in the theater.
