They are cutting out entire jokes and many of them are from MURRAY and RHODA! You are missing some of his best lines. BUY the DVD sets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I get most of those channels on cablevision...and another great one Heroes and Icons...Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue, The Untouchables, etc. Brings me back to the good old days of black and white tv(LOL).
I would have to say no, that's not what he meant. MeTV and TVLand both like to cut scenes out so they can get more commercials in. Those are the two biggest offenders for doing that.
I think just about every network does this, which is why I don't miss watching TV (I haven't had TV for nearly eight years now). It feels like there's more commercial time than show time. On the rare occasion that I see a broadcast I'm ready to turn it off after about 15 minutes. I get all my viewing entertainment free from my local library. They are now building their catalog of blue-ray, too.
I'll watch some tv. I only have over the air channels through my digital antenna. No cable for me. I also have a large library of dvds and vhs to watch. So I do watch a lot that way.
I moved to a small city 4-1/2 years ago that has no local stations. The nearest over-the-air stations are about 60 miles away, which is reachable if you have a strong antenna. I haven't gotten around to getting one yet, and every time I think about it I happen to catch a broadcast somewhere and remember that it's probably not worth the time and money to install one. I'm satisfied with getting news online and entertainment via DVDs.
I'm locked into a one year contract with DirectTV right now. But I think when it's over, I won't renew. Our local cable company keeps increasing their rates. Everyone who has it complains!
Nowadays you are just paying for endless commercials. Why are we paying so much to watch commercials?
As for MTM, I bought several seasons so far. I've purchased a lot of my old favorites on ebay. DVDs have spoiled me for regular broadcasts. I used to watch Andy Griffith or I Love Lucy on TVLand. But they chop up these episodes mercilessly and cut out whole scenes. Really ruins your viewing enjoyment.
That's what I do - buy DVDs of my favorites that I'll watch over and over again. Just about anything else I can borrow from the library. I find plenty of new-to-me things there. I watch a lot of British series now and find them much more interesting than American series.
MeTV and other "rerun channels" have done me one big favor -- they've introduced me to some shows that I hadn't seen when they were first broadcase (because I had cut way back on watching television). Once I discover that I like a show, though, I buy the DVD.
