Start Talking about Mary's World
Let's start talking about Mary Richards!
It was a groundbreaking show to see a thirty year old single woman who was happy with her life and not desperate to find a husband.
It was interesting to see a gorgeous woman like Rhoda with such a low opinion of herself and no ego. She absorbed all the negatives thrown at her. After a few years, she shed a few pounds and a lot of the negativism and started to blossom.
Some people didn't like Murray. But I did. He was a man who had a good job and a nice family, but he was a dreamer. He wanted more, he had a big crush on Mary. I think his situation was typical of a lot of hard working married men. He thought life was passing him by. He didn't realize that he had a good life.
Phyllis was the epitome of the spoiled wife. Her husband made a good living and all she had to do was spend his money. In the episode when Lars cheated on her, she baked a pie for him. Her first pie! In about fifteen years of marriage she never baked a pie?
Just a few thoughts about the world of Mary Richards. Any comments? Agree? Disagree?
