James Caan's finest hour?

I really enjoyed this film, but most of all I was struck by how wonderful James Caan's portrayal is of "Killer" Gannon. Wonderfully sublime work on his part--the best I can recall of any of his performances.

He is great here as he is every time.

Don't shoot me but, his short hair, blank slack-jaw look and duh-livery of his lines. I was seeing Adam Sandler.

I loved the movie, I thought he did a great performance. But I kept seeing it that way. And doesn't Sandler often play characters whose actions could only be explained by brain damage?

This was the first time I have seen Caan as a young man in any film. Even my hubby, whose a classic film buff, was shocked at how handsome he was as a rising star here. Plus he was great, as usual. Don't even compare him to Adam Sandler- please!

OK, I can see how someone would see the resemblance to Sandler, and yes, it's a funny observation, for a moment or two... but now I'm DONE with thinking about that, forever, and will simply remember that Caan was very, very good at portraying this character and the way his condition put severe limitations on him. It's the kind of performance where you can step back and say, "Wow, his acting is really good here" and yet you're NOT really stepping back at all, because you believe his reality at every moment.

I still think his performance in The Godfather is the best.

He was VERY good in "Thief" as well -- a fine movie.
