bad movie

bad acting by clint eastwood, generic plot, not a good conclusion to the main character and his love interest relationship(just a faraway shot of her hugging him from the side of his body, no kiss?, so also not a good resolution scene to explain how they resolved their issue from the last scene with them together, and a very bland, boring, generic bad guy who we never find anything about, we never find out what crime he committed or why he is a dangerous man either, and there's nothing epic about any of clint's fight scenes.

Thanks for the warning.

Earlier on their date, Coogan invited Julie to come to Arizona to see it for herself. The climax with her hugging Coogan and then watching the helicopter fly away while warmly smiling informs the viewer that their relationship is not over and that she will take Coogan up on his invitation. As far as his questionable involvement with Linny, Julie saw that Coogan was the type of guy who'd do anything locate his prisoner and fulfill his mission. Her forgiving generosity can be attributed to her attraction to the tall, dark, handsome bad boy who happens to be a cop.

The movie shows a close-up of Ringerman's arrest warrant, which plainly says "Suspect of Murder" and is substantiated by his mocking ruthlessness and the bloodthirsty thugs he hangs around (Linny, Pushie, etc.). We don't need to know why he's become a dangerous criminal, just that he is. The film's called "Coogan's Bluff" and not "Ringerman's Bluff" because it's about antihero Coogan and not the lowlife ne'er-do-well he chases.

Yeah it's kind of dull to be honest. Susan Clark tries to breathe some life into it. She's a cute costar.

After having watched all the Dirty Harry films again recently and then seeing this, it felt like Eastwood and Siegel had some ideas about bringing a 'fish out of water' idea to the big city and showing how Coogan's methods would clash with urban police and the people living there.

I think they were able to fully refine such a character in Dirty Harry with his 'no-nonsense' approach to everything, which came out a few years later having the same actor and director.
