finally starting to watch this
after many years. two episodes done.
shareSo, ...what's your verdict ?
it's creative and ahead of it's time. 8.5/10
shareAll the more relevant today in so many ways.
shareYou must be the only person who has ever rated this on IMDb, because this is exactly the same rating.
shareYes it certainly was!
The world's 'secret society' = cabal (aka deep state/illuminati/WEF/UN/CIA/FBI/WHO/NATO) is now emerging from the dark corners of the earth, both out of boldness & necessity - as 'their' time is up, & The Prisoner very much references them even back in 1968, especially in the final episode 'Fall Out.'
Glad you enjoyed it :)
God Bless *
Asking specifically about the verdict makes me think of the last couple of episodes in particular, and now I kinda have the urge to start maniacally singing Dry Bones...
shareWhat did you think of it?
shareSuch a great show! I'm glad you're digging into it. So weird and wonderful!
shareNever have devoted myself to watching the series in any thorough and thoughtful way, but when I would catch it at random times I was impressed with such a creative and unusual premise for a TV show. Even without being a very sophisticated young man, it was easy to figure there is a deeper theme involved as opposed to just some guy stuck alone on an island with a weird ball showing up occasionally.
shareI was thinking about watching this but heard that there was no real ending.
shareThere is an ending, but it's not typical. I'd call it real ... well, as real as anything can be in the world of The Prisoner. :)
shareDoes it leave questions unanswered like they were leaving it open for a second series? I remember hearing something about there not being an ending or an open ending.
shareAt the end of the final episode, there's no need for a second series. As to whether it's open-ended or not, I leave that to each viewer. For me, both open-ended & closed. Some questions are answered, some are rendered unimportant, some remain to keep the viewer thinking about what they've just seen. The series has said what it wanted to say.
Not trying to be clever or coy (I'm neither). But if you do wind up watching it, I don't want to spoil anything for you.
